Game Mechanics

Atomic Robo-Kid is a shoot them up with horizontal scrolling in which the player controls the eponymous robot. The robot has a laser that can evolve by recovering bonuses left by some enemies. Each new weapon obtained is added to the available weapons, the player can select at any time his weapon from them by pressing the B button.Four different weapons can be collected. The robot's shot follows the direction of movement, to the right or left of the screen. In some multi-directional scrolling levels, the shot remains horizontal.

The game takes back some elements of the platform games: so at the very beginning of the game, the robot can only walk, but a special bonus offered from the beginning of the first level allows it to fly throughout the rest of the game. It is always possible to walk when the robot touches the ground, the B button then used to jump.
