Game Mechanics

Backstage Assault contains about 50 playable characters. It includes three levels of difficulty: WCW Hardcore Championship (facile), WCW United States Championship (moyen) and WCW World Championship (different).

This is a very different game from other games of the same kind. Any wrestling game includes backstage areas as in the series of SmackDown! or its predecessor, WCW Mayhem ' optional. Backstage Assault completely changed the concept by removing the ring and placing all the action behind the scenes. The places include: truck space, loading area, restocking room, heating room, changing room, parking, media room, exercise room, and bathroom (man and woman).

The game focuses mainly on the « hardcore challenge ». It consists of winning random games against opponents until challenging the champion. Throughout the game, players can unlock wrestlers, arenas, and take to use in fashion Create-a-Superstar. Unlike most other games that include a title mode, the player cannot defend his championship after winning it.
