About game

History

Lucky Luke, on the back of his horse Jolly Jumper, receives the following message: « Massive Penitentiary Evasion - stop - Jesse James, Billy the Kid, Pat Poker, and the Dalton on the run - stop - Jesse James previewed at Painful Gulch - stop »

From a city of Mexico, the cowboy is then led to travel through the United States of America to stop all evaded bandits. To help him, the Pony Express courier will bring him other telegrams indicating where to go.

While all evaded bandits were released to prison by Lucky Luke, a tornado devastations the penitentiary, forcing him to stop the Dalton from evading.

Game Mechanics

Lucky Luke is a 2D horizontal scrolling platform game, featuring three challenging modes.

The game has 12 levels with various decors: Mexico, Diligence, Painful Gulch, Train, Saloon, Steppe, Bisons, Ranch, Rapides, Cheyenne Mountain, Tornade, Penitentiary. Some levels (Train, Bisons, Rapides and Tornade) are automatic scrolling.

It is possible to resume the game at any level via a password system. Although it is possible to access all levels in this way, the only passwords unveiled by the game are those of the Train, Bisons and Cheyenne levels for the Color version. The original Game Boy version only gives the Bisons level password.

The hero can jump with the B button, use his weapon or his fists with the A button. It is also possible to put dynamite sticks down and pressing B. Lucky Luke carries a bag that allows it to temporarily carry certain objects found during levels - He'll have to use it to unlock passages, to get down. The game has three forms of enemies: human enemies, who pull projectiles, animals, invincibles, and bosses, who come to mark the end of certain levels.

Lucky Luke's life is represented by four cr (the player having the opportunity, in the Saloon and Cheyenne Mountain levels, to get two more). The player can get lives by earning points (accessible by removing enough enemies) and performing the bonus levels, accessible provided they recover five sheriff stars in each level. Bonus levels are address games consisting of breaking bottles.

If animals cause direct damage to the player, it is not the case of human enemies, who, like Lucky Luke, attack with the help of projectiles. Unlike the next Lucky Luke from Infogrames, The Train des Desperados, the sudden damage doesn't get the hero back.
